Boudoir is Not About Lingerie. Boudoir Sessions for The Non-Girly Girl in Sioux Falls

I like getting dressed up once in a while!  As a photographer, my daily work clothes tend to be functional rather than super fashionable. But living in a house filled with girls, current fashion is something I’m exposed to daily (even if I am shaking my head at some of it).

I like being able to bust out those cute dresses I have, get my hair done and go on a date night with my husband. It makes me feel good!  However, I have several friends who would rather scrub the bathroom floor than wear high heels for a fun night out.

You might think that the women I photograph for boudoir sessions are more fashionistas than yoga pants lovers, but you’d be wrong. And not all of them come in clad in high-end lingerie!  One of the most common objections to doing a boudoir session is, “I have no idea what I would wear.”

Ladies: what you wear has very little to do with the outcome of your photos.

Sure, some women love lingerie, and it’s a little bit of naughty in their lives that makes them feel feminine and bold. But if you don’t dig lingerie, or your partner doesn’t, there are so many ways to look and feel sexy for your boudoir session.

Let Your Freak Flag Fly

Are you into Game of Thrones? Star Wars? Whatever it is, we can talk about a themed shoot or something that we can do that gives the nod to your shared love.

Wear Something of His

A crisp white button-down, his college jersey. Steal your favorite thing from his closet and make it your own.

White Sheet Session

You don’t have to bare it all, and implied nudity can be the sexiest photos! Just you, a white sheet and come-hither look is all you need.

Take it all Off

You might think that only the most daring of women opt for full nude sessions, but you’d be wrong again!  I would say more than 50% of my clients never intend to get to full nudity in their sessions but change their minds as they grow more and more comfortable at their session. I always, ALWAYS work to your comfort level, so if you decide not to go there, it’s all good.
